About The Program
Building on the lessons learned and momentum generated during YLP1, 2, and 3; YLP4 in 2018 continued its aim of unlocking the potential of youth in the region and fostering their active role in achieving the SDGs. The programme strengthened their competencies and skills in the areas of leadership, social innovation, social entrepreneurship, digital technologies, and the SDGs, and provide a regional platform for gaining experience and sharing knowledge.
A new feature in YLP that was introduced in YLP4 was partnership with national youth-serving organizations, that work towards youth empowerment and Sustainable Development Goals' achievement. By tapping into these partners' existing networks and strengths, YLP4 aimed for a wider and longer-lasting impact across the region. YLP4 reached the highest number of youths so far in the programme history, 5000 young women and men in 12 different countries.
In addition to reaching even larger group of young people in the region through partner organizations, YLP4 focused on building social media presence and started the creation of an online platform to share knowledge products and youth’s success stories. YLP4 also laid the ground for policy dialogues on youth-led innovation for the SDGs, bringing together policy makers, private sector organizations, youth organizations, and youth participating in YLP.
"I knew I had to do something for my community. I wanted to change our thinking and our societies for the better. This year I've learned that changing the world is a challenge for which I need the right tools, networks and initiative to achieve. But, with the help of YLP, I now feel confident that I can truly make a difference."
